 Rupert Blackstone 

Feasibility, Design, Analysis over a range of renewable technologies

Rupert has worked on renewable energy technologies for the last fourteen years. He specialised in renewable energy at Wessex Water, where he also dealt with water and waste water treatment design and the development of sustainability initiatives.

He moved to Arup where he worked for ten years, becoming the primary renewable energy specialist, active in the development of the firm’s wind energy capability, leading initiatives for the development of in-house calculation tools for wind energy projects and integrated renewable energy projects. He developed the integration of renewable energy and sustainability measures with industrial projects. 

Rupert has extensive experience in renewable energy feasibility assessment, design, analysis, project management and team management.  He has worked all main renewable energy technologies including wind power, solar, biomass heating, biomass CHP, anaerobic digestion and wave power.

The systems have been developed for a range of different clients, including communities and small to very large developer clients.  Due diligence and project oversight has also been provided for various clients, including lenders and large developers.

Rupert is Vice Chair of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Group (IMechE) and also a member of the BSI CEN/ISO Sustainable Bioenergy Committee. He has a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University and an MSc Renewable Energy Systems Technology, from Loughborough University.
