 John Harmer
John’s professional career began in the UK electricity industry immediately after privatisation. He became a senior member of power-project development teams and was responsible for financial and structuring input, working in all continents within the international division of National Power.

He moved to the project finance department at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where his role was advising on investment into and development of power projects in the UK and internationally. He then joined Sithe Energies Europe in a mergers and acquisitions role, later heading analysis teams within two energy-trading organisations, Dynegy and EDF Trading, providing European-wide market gas and power price forecasts and structured deal valuation.

He now assists business and project development work primarily through providing valuation models and associated structuring advice for energy assets and energy market analysis of the power and gas markets in the UK.  He is also a director of Gaia Power Tees Valley Limited, a company developing a sub 50MW biomass fuelled CHP plant located on Teesside where he is primarily responsible for the regulatory interface, market analysis and the financial model.

John holds a First Class Honours degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Cambridge University, is an Associate Member of the IMechE, and has a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
