John’s
professional career
began in the UK electricity industry immediately after privatisation.
He became a senior member of power-project development teams and was
responsible for financial and structuring input, working in all
continents within the international division of National
Power.
He
moved to the project finance department at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson,
where his role was advising on investment into and development of power
projects in the UK and internationally. He then joined Sithe Energies
Europe in a mergers and acquisitions role, later heading analysis teams
within two energy-trading organisations, Dynegy and EDF Trading,
providing European-wide market gas and power price forecasts and
structured deal valuation.
He now assists business and
project development work primarily through providing valuation models
and associated structuring advice for energy assets and energy market
analysis of the power and gas markets in the UK. He is also a
director of Gaia Power Tees Valley Limited, a company developing a sub
50MW biomass fuelled CHP plant located on Teesside where he is
primarily responsible for the regulatory interface, market analysis and
the financial model.
John holds a First Class Honours
degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Cambridge University, is an
Associate Member of the IMechE, and has a Certified Diploma in
Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants.
